ANCIENT TEMPLE UPDATE IS OUT!!!
The Ancient Temple update is out! I've been spending a lot of time on Dungeon Dudes lately, its fun to play and fun to develop.
The ancient temple has actually been in the game for a while, but I've never been focused enough on it to build it up to the standard i think it deserves. Currently, it stands as a big turning point in the games progression, with the best stuff from the ancient temple and hell you can get the survival chance of a character up to more than forty. THAT. IS. A. LOT. Either the next dungeon i add will be extremely high level and difficult, or the ancient temple gear is gonna have to get nerfed.
Adding more items to the shop was a surprisingly tedious job, especially the stuff you unlock with the upgrade stone, because there was a fair few bugs in the code i had to go back and individually change for every shop object i'd created (instead of doing the smart thing and making one shop object and testing it to be sure it worked, i just made them all and messed it up... twice). It turned out fine in the end, and I'll definitely end up doing similar things with market upgrades in future updates.
The mining and smithing was so astonishingly easy to implement i almost forgot about it lol, i basically just copied the tree chopping mechanic and rebranded all the items.
Saving and loading was really confusing. I haven't REALLY gotten into it with a game before, so this is the first time. Currently, saves won't work between versions, which is annoying, but i may be able to find some fix for that in the future.
Something im unexpectedly disappointed about is that the player never gets to see or interact with any of the enemies in these dungeons. That is something i'd certainly like to experiment with ways of implementing, so i think i'll have a go at that for the next update.
For anyone who cares, I've already got a lot in mind for the next update, so stay tuned :)
Thanks guys! Have fun with the new stuff :D
